Research Alert: Unpredictable Water and Psychosocial Stress

A new study coauthored by Dr. Stoler quantified the negative effects of intermittent water supplies on stressful emotions and behaviors in multiple sites. Importantly, these effects were mitigated when water services were predictable.

Former lab member Dr. Andrea Lemaitre is joining the City of Coral Springs to serve as their new Sustainability Manager. Among many duties, she is responsible for implementing the city's Sustainability Action Plan. Congrats!

Research Alert: Service Deserts for Pediatric Uveitis Care

Dr. Stoler and lab member Eliza Stuart (UM '22) co-authored an article that analyzed geographic disparities in the availability of specialist care for uveitis, a rare eye disease that can cause child blindness if not diagnosed early in life.

Dr. Stoler just returned from the UN 2023 Water Conference attended by ~7,000 water professionals, government representatives, and researchers. Hopefully this event galvanizes needed action to achieve global safe water.

Research Alert: The Impact of Rapid Handpump Repairs

A new study coauthored by Dr. Stoler demonstrates the importance of restoring water services quickly in places like rural Kenya. When broken handpumps were fixed within 24 hrs, rates of child diarrhea plunged relative to longer fix times.
